New Era actively prepares for the new heating season 2015/16

8 Sep 2015

Despite sunny and hot weather, New Era is taking preparatory actions for the new heating season. It is testing automation systems, carrying out maintenance works of heating systems in existing heat stations and under construction heat stations. At the moment, it has already bought more than 2,500 m3 of wood and 200 tons of wood pellets.

Before the start of the heating season 2015/16, New Era will have launched 7 heat stations operating on alternative fuel with a total capacity of 16 MW. Three 6 MW heat stations boiler will be launched in Kyiv and four 10 MW heat stations will be launched in the Chernivtsi region. Existing gas capacities are preserved and, if necessary, rapid conversion to gas heating is possible.

"The New Era was started up last year. We have already reduced consumption of gas in Ukraine by 214 000 m3 and this year we plan to reduce consumption of natural gas in the country by 2.6 million m3 due to alternative sources of heat.

We build modern, efficient heat stations on alternative fuel at our own expense, reduce gas dependence of Ukraine, provide employment opportunities, save money for the budget, but still often have to deal with administrative dereliction and outright sabotage of officials. Thus, in Kiev implementation of such projects requires the participation of the Kiev Investment Agency. In January 2015, we provided KIA with a list of more than ten problem heat stations in Kiev, where there is a significant loss of heat due to the use of gas boilers produced in 60-80's.  The heating season will start less than in two months, and the results of the Kiev Investment Agency is zero. Apparently, budget savings and reduction of natural gas consumption at the expense of a fully private investment are not in the list of their priorities. There may be many reasons, but in fact, KIA is a copy of the liquidated State Agency of Investments and Management of National Projects in Ukraine.

On the other hand, there are very positive examples of cooperation with officials. For example, Novoselytsia town, Chernivtsi region. In August 2015, we learned about the tender on the conversion of 4 MW gas heat station to alternative one, we participated, won the tender, and we have already purchased boilers on alternate fuel and currently             conducting construction and installation activities. We plan to launch upgraded heat stations on alternative fuel by 1 October 2015 (gas equipment remains intact and can be started up any time). We express special thanks for the help in realization of this project to the head of the Novoselytsia District Administration Evgenia Boyko, Mayor of Novoselytsia town Maria Ilinichna Nikorich, Secretary of the City Council Sergei Vasilievich Arseny, Director of CE "Novoselytsia urban heating network" Viktor Mikhailovich Agratinu. We hope that there will be more and more examples of effective and efficient work of local officials "- said Peter Spatar.
